Based in our Porto Alegre office Alberto is a senior partner leading two key groups at the firm. He is the head off the patent practice and extend his work to sports and entertainment law.
Alberto’s work has seen him take on internet giants Yahoo Inc., and win. He also represents many clients in patent litigation matters.
His election as Brazilian Delegate of ASIPI (Asociación Interamericana de la Propiedad Intelectual) for 2012-2015 and his re-election for 2015-2018, sees him became the Brazilian representative for the largest Intellectual Property entity of Latin America. With Brazil hosting the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympic Games in 2016, this is no coincidence. Alberto is also the ex-director of football, ex-member of the Administrative Council and ex-legal director at Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense. Grêmio is the largest and oldest club in the south region of Brazil.
He is also the outgoing chair of the Committee of Sports and Entertainment ASIPI (Latin American Association for IP Attorneys) and the current co-Coordinator of the Sports Law section for ABPI (Brazilian Association of Intellectual Property). Alberto has spoken many time at various national and international symposiums focused on sports law, and sponsorships in soccer.
Alberto is an evangelist for a greater understanding of IP protection in Brazil. He speaks frequently regarding IP protection in Brazil and he currently sits on the Board of Directors at US based IP association, AIPF.
